About GitHub's pricing changes from December 16, 2025
GitHub just announced a change to their pricing model that will impact you as a Namespace customer.
Starting March 1st 2026, GitHub will charge a “platform fee” for every GitHub Actions job minute used, regardless of where it runs. This applies to all external runners: whether you are self-hosting on AWS or using a managed platform like Namespace.
We did the math, and this results in a 25% cost increase for the average Namespace customer.

This is frustrating. We don’t like surprises in pricing, and we know you don’t either.
However, running on Namespace continues to be significantly more cost-efficient than running on GitHub Actions directly.
As a quick refresher, your current pricing already includes:
- Market-leading performance: That’s true today, and we will ensure it stays that way.
- Built-in tooling: Observability, analytics, and audit logging are baked into the price.
- Zero egress fees: High-performance networking and built-in Docker Hub usage.
- And access to high-performance caching: From cache volumes to external caches. Plus, additional configurable security controls are shipping in Q1 2026.
We prefer to announce changes only when they’re ready, but we want you to know we are bringing in two pricing changes early 2026:
- Second-based metering: Stop paying for unused time (no more minute-based rounding).
- “Burst compute”: Lower-cost option for workloads that don't need sustained performance.
What’s Next
We remain 100% committed to providing the best possible experience within the GitHub ecosystem.
At the same time, recent changes highlight a broader reality: the industry needs a platform that tackles performance, reliability, and cost at the architectural level.
We believe you deserve choice, and we’re working actively to build it. We can’t wait to share more next year.
If you have questions about how this affects your workspace or want to discuss your options, schedule time with us.
